Our Founder Story
Our Founder, Nic Seal, established Environet and built it into what it is today, one of the leading invasive plant consultancies in the UK. To ensure the ongoing success and sustainability of the business, Nic transferred Environet to 100% employee ownership at the end of July 2020, initiating a comprehensive five-year transition programme. Emily Grant, Mat Day, and Luke Walton took on their new responsibilities as Directors with great enthusiasm and professionalism, forming a highly effective senior management team. Their exceptional performance in relieving Nic of his roles and responsibilities has led him to accelerate his exit, stepping down as a Director on 31st May 2024, 28 years after Environet’s inception. Nic will continue to retain a keen interest in Environet’s success and well-being, provide guidance where requested, and serve as a Trustee of the EOT.

Our History
2011
We decided to make our sole focus the removal of Japanese knotweed, creating a team of national regional managers to assist property professionals and owners of commercial and residential land. To reflect this we changed the company name from Environet Consulting Ltd to Environet UK Ltd.
2014
The business moved to its new Head Office near Woking, a 5,000 sq ft warehouse building to accommodate all head office staff, equipment and our R&D activities.
2016
We bought a parcel of land in Sussex infested with Japanese knotweed to use for our R&D field trials.
2020
On 31st July 2020 ownership of the business was transferred into an Employee Owned Trust, all staff being beneficiaries of the Trust. We also expanded our business into dealing with bamboo, and other invasive plants.
2022
We reformed our leadership and operating structure, giving significantly more responsibility to our team and supporting them as they flourish in their new roles.
2008
Environet designed and developed the Xtract™ machine enabling us to remove Japanese knotweed rhizome from infested soil both effectively and economically.
2013
Environet obtained the backing of an “A-Rated” insurer to underwrite our insurance backed guarantees when removing Japanese knotweed.
2015
MK3 of our patented Xtract™ machine was launched, with enhancements to improve the process rate and manoeuverability with addition of caterpillar tracks.
2017
Our 21st birthday – incorporated in 1996, nearly up to project number 10,000 and counting.
2021
Our R&D team have worked hard to develop an environmentally friendly way of dealing with Japanese knotweed waste, and our method for converting knotweed rhizome into biochar was granted a patent in October 2021.
2023
We launched JustCheck™, designed to support people buying and selling property to correctly answer the Law Society’s TA6 form – with the added benefit of a 5-year warranty.
