Our very own founder and MD, Nic Seal will be a guest speaker at the Guildford Book Festival on 14th October.

Following the recent publication of his beautifully illustrated book, ‘Japanese Knotweed: Unearthing The Truth’, which is the first comprehensive consumer guide to knotweed, Nic will substantiate the facts, break down the myths and take listeners on a journey back to the slopes of Mt Fuji in Japan to explore the plant’s extraordinary history, physiology and anatomy. The Guildford Book Festival will be held at the National Trust property Hatchlands Park on 14th October.

Listeners may be surprised to learn about the positive attributes of Japanese knotweed, including its medicinal value in treating conditions such as Lyme’s Disease and cardio-vascular disease, as well as its potential as a biomass fuel, culinary ingredient and anti-ageing remedy.

The book includes a guide to identifying Japanese knotweed and also explores the human side of the story, discussing how the plant affects homeowners and the impact it can have on their lives.

Nic said, “Japanese knotweed now affects around one in twenty households in the UK and strikes fear into the heart of most homeowners. But there is growing interest around its positive properties, including carbon capture, which are extremely exciting. This talk will take listeners beyond the usual Japanese knotweed narrative to explore whether it entirely deserves its thuggish reputation.”

A brief Japanese knotweed clinic will follow the talk, where you can benefit from clear advice about how to identify and treat Japanese knotweed, the law around it and what to do if you are buying or selling a property that is affected. Feel free to bring your cuttings along for identification.

Nic Seal will be speaking at Hatchlands Park, East Clandon, GU4 7RT on Sunday 14th October 2018 from 11.00 – 12.00. Tickets cost £10, £9 concessions.

To book please call the Box Office on 01483 444334 or visit http://www.guildfordbookfestival.co.uk/ as tickets are selling out fast.

“We had a large stand of bamboo removed, thinned, contained and replaced. The customer service has been first class. Joe and Jason were fabulous and kept me well informed at all times”.
