Japanese knotweed identification help

Japanese knotweed is the UK’s most aggressive and invasive plant, however it can be tricky to identify.

Commonly confused for plants such as Russian vine and bamboo, knotweed wreaks havoc when it comes to buying or selling a property, and can create issues between neighbours. It is especially hard to identify over the winter, as the knotweed lies dormant waiting to re-emerge in the spring.

Because of this confusion, we offer a free knotweed identification service from a photo as a first step. Email us and we will let you know if they contain the dreaded knotweed. Hopefully we will be able to give you good news, and say it has been misidentified! We don’t charge for this service; however we ask you if possible to make a small donation to one of our chosen charities, via our JustGiving page. Any donation is greatly appreciated.

We support 4 charities: RNLI, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research and The Archie Lloyd Foundation. We recently added our support to The Archie Lloyd Charitable Foundation, an inspirational new charity set up by the Lloyd family in memory of their son Archie. The charity seeks to inspire and motivate young people by creating a foundation which will award scholarships targeted at those who have not had the opportunities afforded to Archie through his education. These young people will be mentored and assisted through a programme of further education, for example through coaching qualifications and travel.

“We had a large stand of bamboo removed, thinned, contained and replaced. The customer service has been first class. Joe and Jason were fabulous and kept me well informed at all times”.
